Early Years Curriculum
At The Reddings Primary School, our EYFS curriculum is designed to give every child the strongest possible start to their learning journey. We follow the seven areas of learning, ensuring a rich balance of foundational skills, knowledge and experiences.
· Communication and Language – developing listening, attention, understanding and confident speaking.
· Personal, Social and Emotional Development – nurturing self-regulation, independence and positive relationships.
· Physical Development – strengthening both gross and fine motor skills through purposeful play and practice.
· Literacy – building comprehension, early reading and writing through meaningful, engaging experiences.
· Maths – developing number sense and understanding of numerical patterns.
· Understanding the World – exploring past and present, cultures and communities, and the natural world.
· Expressive Arts and Design – encouraging creativity, imagination and expression through varied materials and media.
Our classrooms are thoughtfully organised to promote independence, curiosity and exploration. Children access well-resourced areas including writing, reading, maths, creative arts, construction, small world, role play, malleable materials and physical development spaces. The outdoor environment mirrors and extends indoor learning, offering continuous opportunities for investigation and imaginative play.
